Independent Australian law firm Hall & Wilcox has hired insolvency and litigation partner Hector West from global firm Dentons.

West has joined Hall & Wilcox's Perth office and will add further depth to the firm's commercial dispute resolution and insolvency practices, the firm said in a statement.

"Hector has extensive experience in insolvency and bankruptcy and he also works in general commercial litigation involving [Personal Property Securities Act] advice and disputes, contractual disputes, tax disputes and shareholder disputes," the firm said.

West joins from Dentons, which he joined when Dentons took over several offices of local firm Gadens in late 2016, including the Perth office.

"It is an absolute delight for me to join the energetic and very dynamic Hall & Wilcox team. It will be a pleasure to assist [with] expanding the firm's national and Western Australian footprint in the dispute resolution and insolvency space, to offer the firm's extended capabilities to our clients' benefit," West said.

His industry sector specialisation is in financial services and professional services, and he has acted for a range of clients including insolvency firms, accounting firms, financiers and corporate and commercial clients.
