Five law firms across Spain and Latin America have combined to create a new firm, called Velae Legal Group.

According to reports in the Spanish press and in Iberian Lawyer, the five firms are: DJV-Estrada-Azcona from Spain; Becerril, Coca & Becerril from Mexico; Pinzon Pinzon & Asociados from Colombia; Aramburu Castañeda Boero from Peru; and GM Gestión Legal from the Dominican Republic.

The new firm will have 250 lawyers with 51 partners, of which 33 will be equity partners, Iberian Lawyer reported. While the five firms are merging into a single partnership, they will continue to operate under their existing names. The new entity will be headquartered in Madrid.

Velae Legal Group will target multinationals and middle-market companies and will provide a range of advice, including corporate and M&A, litigation and arbitration, commercial contracts, real estate, tax and labour law, press reports said.

Revenue at the Spain-based firm, Madrid-headquartered DJV, totalled €3.6 million ($4 million) in 2018.

The new firm started operations on July 8.
