Pinsent Masons has poached a life sciences and technology partner from one of Ireland's top law firms for its recently opened Dublin office.
Michael Finn is joining the firm from Matheson, where he set up the life sciences regulatory and litigation practice and currently leads the IP disputes group.
Finn is Pinsent's ninth partner hire since launching its Dublin office in June 2017, and its first hire in this booming practice area.
He will be rejoining former colleague and outsourcing partner Andreas Carney, who was hired from Matheson for the office opening. The other partners in Pinsent Mason's Dublin office include corporate partner Dennis Agnew, real estate partner Kevin Collins, banking and finance partner Ann Lalor, project finance partner Garrett Monaghan, commercial litigator Ann Henry, corporate financial services partner Naoise Harnett, and investment funds partner Gayle Bowen, who heads up the office.
Finn will now work alongside Henry to enhance the firm's big pharma offering in Dublin.
"We are continuing to invest in appointing talented individuals who bolster our ability to service our international client base," Pinsent Masons head of life sciences Clare Tunstall said in a statement. "Michael's stellar reputation and experience makes him a fantastic addition to our team."
The appointment follows a slew of lateral hires in the Irish capital during the past couple of years, with the newly arrived international firms poaching top partners from local firms to build their new offices.
Earlier this year, DLA Piper, which officially opened its Dublin office at the start of 2019, made four lateral hires, including two from A&L Goodbody and one from Matheson.
And last year, Simmons & Simmons hired two partners from A&L Goodbody for its new Dublin office.

The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays.
