Alternative legal services provider Elevate is looking to appoint its first London-based general counsel, amid continued growth in the U.K. and Europe.

The company confirmed it is advertising for a general counsel and head of compliance to oversee its Europe, Middle East and Africa arm, as well as the company's expansion plans in the U.K. and Europe and its flexible lawyering service. The newly created role reports into Elevate's global GC, Steve Harmon.

Elevate has been increasing its presence in the London legal market in recent months. In February, Elevate's founder and executive chairman Liam Brown said the company was looking into acquiring a small to midsize U.K. law firm.

Among its other acquisitions in the U.K. since the beginnning of the year are 'new law' firm Halebury, tech and managed services company Yerra Solutions, and Hong Kong-based flexible lawyering and legal consulting business Cognatio Law.

According to a spokesperson for Elevate, the new role will have a significant focus on compliance, as it includes managing Elevate's U.K. regulatory obligations regarding Halebury's alternative business structure status.
