A former senior marketing and business development executive at Dentons has been expelled from the legal industry for fraudulent conduct, a Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) filing has revealed.

Valentine Petit, who worked at Dentons' Dubai office between 2016-17, has been found by the SRA to have behaved dishonestly, having forged "a number of documents" while at the firm, the filing said.

According to the filing, published yesterday (July 31), she forged documents including "receipt vouchers for medical visits; a salary certificate and two salary statements on Dentons & Co's letterhead; five sick leave certificates; and two receipts from a hospital".

The filing adds that she also fraudulently claimed sick pay from the firm.

The SRA concluded that "it would be undesirable for her to be involved in a legal practice".

The body states that no legal firm, body or solicitor should employ her "except in accordance with a society permission".

According to a LinkedIn profile under her name, Petit had previously worked at several international firms including Allen & Overy, Hogan Lovells, and Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom.

Dentons declined to comment beyond confirming that Petit left the firm in late 2017.

Petit was approached for comment.
