Stephenson Harwood has hired energy partner Marco Pocci in Hong Kong from Winston & Strawn.

Pocci, who is qualified in the U.K. and Italy, focuses on the energy and infrastructure sector, including regulatory, contract negotiations, finance and construction matters, particularly in the renewable energy space.

He leaves Winston & Strawn after more than five years with the firm. Previously, Pocci was a partner at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe, where he practised for seven years. Before that, he had his own practice in Rome.

Voon Keat Lai, Stephenson Harwood's Hong Kong-based Greater China managing partner, said in a statement that the addition of Pocci will help the firm advise Chinese manufacturers and investors in the renewable energy space.

"China is leading the way in renewable energy and is now the world's largest producer and exporter of solar panels and wind turbines," he added.

Meanwhile, Pocci's departure will leave Winston & Strawn with six partners in Hong Kong, including Hong Kong capital markets specialist Khoon Jin Tan, who joined in March from Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati.

In the past few years, the Chicago-based firm lost several Hong Kong partners, including former Asia managing partner David Hall-Jones, who retired last year, and corporate lawyers Mabel Lui, Polly Chu and Daniel Tang, who all joined Withers in 2017 as part of a six-lawyer team.

In late 2016, Winston & Strawn closed its offices in Beijing and Taipei. The firm's only other office in Asia is in Shanghai.
