Independent Australian law firm Corrs Chambers Westgarth has hired a partner from Linklaters-aligned Allens for the firm's property and real estate practice.

Alexandra Peace has extensive experience in substantial transactions across a project's lifecycle, including providing strategic and legal advice on structuring, development, acquisitions and sales, Corrs said in a statement.

"Alex is a great addition to our very strong national property and real estate practice. Her major transactions capability and considerable depth of experience across all market segments will complement our growth in this area," Corrs CEO Gavin MacLaren said.

Peace will be based in the firm's Melbourne office.

While Allens lost Peace to an independent firm, it also recently gained a partner from a different independent firm. In July, Allens hired disputes partner Richard Lilly, who joined from Johnson Winter & Slattery. Lilly joined the firm's Perth office.
