Australian firm Johnson Winter & Slattery has hired a corporate partner in Melbourne from Herbert Smith Freehills.

Simon Haddy advises corporate and financial investors on public and private acquisitions, joint ventures and capital-raising transactions in the infrastructure, logistics and utilities sectors. In 2017, he advised Australia-based Impact Investment Group on developing a $24.5 million solar farm in Victoria. In 2015, he also represented Australian logistics company Toll Holdings Ltd. on a $5.1 billion acquisition by Japan Post Holdings Co. Ltd.

Haddy had been with legacy Freehills his entire career. He joined the firm in 1999 and became a partner in 2008.

Earlier this year, Johnson Winter & Slattery recruited longtime litigation partner Christine Small from Norton Rose Fulbright. In 2017, the firm hired away former Perth office head Paul Vinci from Clifford Chance.
