Allen & Overy is seeking a global head of legal knowledge technologies, following the departure of longstanding leader in the area Ruth Ward.

Ward left the Magic Circle firm after 19 years, according to her LinkedIn profile. Her most recent role was head of the A&O knowledge and collaboration technologies, before she joined the Government Legal Department with the same title in June this year.

According to a LinkedIn advertisement for the new role, the successful applicant will report into A&O's chief technology officer John O'Donovan and its head of international capital markets knowhow and training. According to the firm's website, the latter role is filled by partner Amanda Thomas.

The job advert states that the role "is to lead and promote the development and adoption of relevant technologies serving the needs of both our lawyers and clients globally, in line with the firm's IT and knowledge strategies".

Within the advert, the firm has also announced it is in the final stages of deploying a new firm-wide document management system, iManage.

In April, A&O promoted head of its tech incubator Fuse Shruti Ajitsaria to partner. The firm also selected four new companies to join Fuse – Apiax, Define, HighQ and Scisser – in the third round of the programme.
