Clyde & Co has hired China banking and finance partner Fei Kwok from Norton Rose Fulbright—an addition intended to help the firm capture opportunities from the Belt and Road Initiative and the Greater Bay Area economic plans.

U.K.-qualified Kwok will head Clyde & Co's Greater China banking and finance practice from the Hong Kong office. She specialises in asset and project finance in the oil and gas, power and petrochemicals sectors. In 2016, Kwok advised Chinese lessor ICBC Financial Leasing Co. Ltd. on a refinancing deal related to two liquefied natural gas vessels, which included a $200 million bond offering.

Kwok leaves Norton Rose Fulbright after eight years with the firm in Shanghai. She joined in 2011 as of counsel and made partner the next year. Previously, she was an associate at Shearman & Sterling and Watson Farley & Williams.

Clyde & Co said in a statement that Kwok's appointment is part of the firm's strategy to capitalise on opportunities from the Belt and Road Initiative and the Greater Bay Area—two major economic plans created by the Chinese government.

In addition to Hong Kong, the U.K. firm has offices in Beijing and Shanghai, as well as Chongqing in southwestern China via a joint venture with Westlink Partnership.
