Orrick.

Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe has further bolstered its London ranks with the hire of a Ropes & Gray finance lawyer – its second new addition this week.

Ropes counsel Rick Hanson joins Orrick as a partner.

Hanson trained at Linklaters and stayed at the Magic Circle firm for nine years, before joining Ropes as an associate. He was promoted to counsel last year and advises on structured finance, securitisation and derivatives-based financings for funds, asset managers and investment trusts.

"Rick is an up-and-coming finance lawyer who has advised on some of the most innovative structured finance and funds-related transactions," Orrick's European finance head Hervé Touraine said in a statement. "He is a strong complement to our market-leading global structured finance practice."

Hanson is the latest hire in a flurry of new arrivals to the firm's London base. The firm hired Cooley corporate partner Ed Lukins earlier this week.

Last month, it also hired energy and infrastructure partner Hannah Roscoe from Herbert Smith Freehills, and in May it added Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld tax partner Jonathan Rosen to its London ranks.

Orrick London technology and life sciences partner Ali Ramadan, meanwhile, left the firm last month to join Goodwin Procter, while in March the firm lost corporate heavyweight partner Anthony Riley to Winston & Strawn.
