King & Spalding has hired Squire Patton Boggs' former Asia international dispute resolution head as a partner in Singapore.

Peter Chow Peter Chow

Peter Chow focuses on arbitrations across the Asia-Pacific region, particularly disputes from large energy and construction projects. Chow, who is fluent in Mandarin, also specialises in commercial disputes related to Chinese parties.

Chow leaves Squire Patton Boggs after more than seven years with the firm. He first joined legacy Squire Sanders' Hong Kong office in 2012 as part of a three-partner team from legacy Bryan Cave.

Edward Kehoe, the New York-based co-head of King & Spalding's international arbitration practice, said in a statement that Chow joins the firm as Chinese companies become more active internationally in areas such as energy and construction.

"In Peter, we have a seasoned arbitration counsel who is based in the region and speaks Mandarin. He is perfectly placed to assist clients in disputes relating to Greater China, and across Asia," Kehoe said.

With the addition of Chow, King & Spalding has 12 partners in Singapore, including arbitration partners Wade Coriell, Elodie Dulac, Simon Dunbar and Emerson Holmes.

Meanwhile, Chow's departure leaves Squire Patton Boggs with five partners in Singapore, including international arbitration specialist Cameron Ford, who joined in July from an in-house role as legal counsel at Anglo-Australian mining giant Rio Tinto. The office was launched in 2012 by project finance partner Ignatius Hwang, who joined alongside Chow from Bryan Cave.
