U.K.-based asset management company RWC Partners has appointed a new head of legal and compliance from a global rival.

RWC has hired Huan Ke from global asset management company Macquarie, where he spent eight years as head of legal for Europe, the Middle East and Africa at the company's investment management and private credit business divisions.

He spent time as an associate at Magic Circle firm Clifford Chance until 2005, before becoming legal counsel at Financial Risk Management. Two years later, he joined Eden Rock Capital Management as its general counsel.

In his new role, Ke will be based in RWC's London office and have oversight and responsibility of its global legal and compliance functions.

During the summer, Macquarie-owned Green Investment Group (GIG) acquired a 40% stake in an incomplete offshore wind project valued at more than £1.6 billion, on which Linklaters, Clifford Chance and Latham & Watkins took roles.

Other recent in-house hires across the market include private equity firm Warburg Pincus's hire of former Latham & Watkins Beijing managing partner Du Yilong to be a regional managing director and co-general counsel, while payments giant PayPal's U.K. and Ireland head of legal is set to leave the company for rival Worldpay.
