The group of U.S. based Clyde & Co partners who quit the international firm last month have launched their new boutique firm, consisting of 35 lawyers spread across three offices.

The firm, Atheria Law, launched Tuesday with three new offices – in San Francisco, where it is headquartered, Los Angeles and Atlanta.

Founding partners Joan D'Ambrosio, Bill Casey, Christina Terplan, Julie Hawkinson, Jamie Narbaitz, Christina Marshall, Eric Moon and David Jordan quit Clyde & Co last month to launch the new venture, with Terplan serving as the firm's president.

She said in a statement: "We have been working together for years and share core values we are committed to advancing at Atheria Law, including the use of new technology and tools to provide industry-leading advice while simultaneously advancing diversity and inclusion, mentoring, and professional development."

According to the statement, the firm aims to provide legal services "to global insurance and reinsurance clients, focusing on the technology, privacy and cyber, and professional liability sectors".

Yesterday, Clyde & Co appointed a new chief executive officer to take over from longstanding incumbent Peter Hasson, who has led the firm since 2005.

Matthew Kelsall, who first joined the firm in 2007, will be CEO designate from November 1 of this year and will officially take over the role from Hasson on New Year's Day 2020.
