DWF has appointed the former general counsel of Lukoil in the Middle East as its global head of energy, based out of its Dubai office.

Slava Kiryushin joins with a brief to grow the U.K. firm's energy practice, while focusing on the oil and gas sector globally at DWF.

DWF also announced it has hired Abdalla Eisa as a senior associate in Dubai. Eisa joins from Baker McKenzie Habib Al Mulla. The firm said he brings "substantial experience" handling litigation and dispute resolution matters for local, regional and international clients across a number of sectors and areas of UAE law.

"I am pleased to welcome both Slava and Abdalla onboard as we continue to expand our Dubai offering," Shiraz Sethi, DWF's managing partner in the Middle East, said.

He added: "The energy sector is a new market for our office and Slava's wealth of experience and strong track record will be instrumental in developing our offering to a wide range of clients in the Middle East."

The hires follow DWF's recent appointments of Thenji Moyo, Jonathan Burton and Ali Al Assad, who respectively joined the Dubai office as co-head of employment, legal director of corporate, and senior associate, in the employment practice.

Its Dubai office now employs approximately 50 people.
