Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton London corporate finance partner Andrew Shutter has left the firm after a 22-year tenure.

He joined the U.S. firm's London base in 1997 and was promoted to partner eight years later. He left the partnership last month, according to Companies House filings.

During his time at Cleary, Shutter advised on a number of significant debt matters. He had a notable role on Greece's debt negotiations in 2015, advising Greece's Public Debt Management Agency, the body charged with managing the country's borrowing programme and debt portfolio.

The previous year, he advised Iceland's government in its negotiations with the creditors of the country's largest banks over easing capital controls.

Last month, financial regulatory counsel Knox McIlwain also left Cleary's London base to join Allen & Overy as a partner.

He rejoined former Cleary partner and financial regulatory heavyweight Bob Penn in his move to the Magic Circle firm.

Shutter did not respond to requests for comment.

A spokesperson for Cleary said in a statement: "It is our policy not to comment on personnel matters."

Earlier this year, the firm scrapped its London paralegal recruitment programme and made its current cohort redundant.
