Fieldfisher is expanding its Belfast operations by doubling the size of its legal solutions hub.

The legal service centre, which launched in August 2018, will see an additional 3,000 sq ft added to the existing 3,000 sq ft occupied in the current building, to house a further 38 staff members.

The hub provides legal support for the firm's 25 offices in the U.K., Europe, China and California, and houses staff working in legal and risk management as well as technical and business support roles.

Fieldfisher debuted in Belfast in 2017 when it merged with local 'nearshoring' provider Donaldson Legal Consulting (DLC), with DLC head Alison Donaldson as managing partner of the firm.

When it first launched, Fieldfisher expected the hub to house 125 legal support risk management professionals within three years, and currently features 40 staff. The firm is currently recruiting 15 staff into Belfast, but expects total new additions to reach 38.

Fieldfisher managing partner Michael Chissick said in a statement: "Having recently celebrated the Belfast Legal Solutions Hub's first birthday, Fieldfisher is proud to reinforce its commitment to the city, which also hosts our DLC business and forms an essential part of the firm's integrated European and wider international offering.

"The Belfast hub allows us to be one of the most competitive players in the global legal market and I look forward to meeting the new members of our Belfast team as we take advantage of the city's rich talent pool to grow the hub over the coming months and years."

Earlier this year, Fieldfisher enjoyed a third successive year of revenue growth, reporting a rise in £242 million – the third successive year of double-digit growth for the firm.
