Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton has not made up any London-based lawyers to its partnership in its latest promotion round.

The firm has promoted seven lawyers to its partnership and six to counsel. Only one London-based lawyer was promoted to a counsel role.

Paul Stuart will become counsel in the firm's London office. He focuses on competition and litigation matters and first joined the firm nine years ago as a barrister in its competition practice, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Cleary managing partner Michael Gerstenzang said in a statement: "We deliver results by assembling world-class teams of lawyers, who bring their market-leading experience, collaborative approach and client focus to every matter.

"This group of talented individuals embodies our firm's commitment to serving our clients' needs across practice areas and around the world."

The U.S. firm has historically made few promotions in its London base. Last year, it promoted one lawyer to partner in the city.

The bulk of this year's partner promotions were made in the firm's New York office, with five made up.

The firm made up a sole partner in Paris, and a counsel apiece in Milan and Rome.

The most recent promotion round brings the total number of partners to 180 worldwide and the number of counsel to 62, according to the firm.

Cleary is the second firm to have snubbed London in its partner promotions this month. White & Case only promoted three London lawyers to the partnership in this year's promotion round, the lowest number in a decade.
