Another Senior Singapore Lawyer Leaves Ince Gordon Dadds
Disputes partner Nicholas Lum will join Clyde & Co in December.

Clyde & Co has hired disputes partner Nicholas Lum in Shanghai from Ince Gordon Dadds' Singapore office – the latest in a string of senior departures in the city-state.
Lum, who will also spend time in Singapore, focuses on international trade and commodities, shipping and shipbuilding, and general commercial disputes. He will join Clyde & Co in December.
Lum leaves Ince after three years with the firm. He led Ince's China practice in the Singapore office until August, when he was succeeded by disputes partner Wai Yue Loh, who also leads Ince's Beijing office.
Previously, Lum was a partner at Singaporean boutique Oon & Bazul from 2016 to 2011. Before that, he was an associate at Clyde & Co's Shanghai office and at leading Singaporean firm Allen & Gledhill.
Lum will drive Clyde & Co's outbound investment agenda under the Belt and Road Initiative and Greater Bay Area, Ik Wei Chong, the firm's Shanghai-based Asia managing director, said in a statement, referring to China's major economic initiatives.
Lum is the latest senior lawyer to leave Ince's Singapore office since AIM-listed Gordon Dadds announced it was merging with Ince & Co last year; Gordon Dadds eventually acquired Ince & Co in a pre-pack administration deal on December 31, 2018.
Since late 2018, the Singapore office has lost former office managing partner John Simpson and finance head Martin Brown, both to Stephenson Harwood; global terminals and maritime infrastructure practice head Ton van den Bosch to Addleshaw Goddard; and Singapore formal law alliance directors Felicia Tan and Moses Lin to local firms TSMP Law Corp. and Shook Lin & Bok, respectively.
After the departure of Lum, Ince will have four partners in Singapore: Loh, office head and finance specialist Devandran Karunakaran, shipping lawyer Harry Hirst and disputes lawyer Maureen Poh.

J. Brugh Lower of Gibbons has entered an appearance for industrial equipment supplier Devco Corporation in a pending trademark infringement lawsuit. The suit, accusing the defendant of selling knock-off Graco products, was filed Dec. 18 in New Jersey District Court by Rivkin Radler on behalf of Graco Inc. and Graco Minnesota.
