Revenue at Australian law firm MinterEllison rose more than 10% last fiscal year – a period in which it increased its partner headcount.

Revenue of A$627 million ($430 million) was up 11.6% on the previous year's A$562 million ($386 million), according to the firm's annual report.

The firm said it added 18 new partners, eight special counsel and 42 senior associates this year. It also hired lateral partners, expanding its partnership headcount to 268 across its international network. The firm has offices in Beijing, Shanghai, London and Canberra, among others, according to its website.

Data regarding the firm's profits or profits per partner were not included in the report.

MinterEllison did not immediately respond for a request for comment on why it saw such a strong revenue increase. But it did say some 29% of total revenue came from financial services, 17% from property, infrastructure and construction, and 10% from energy and resources.

The firm launched an infrastructure consulting arm in July 2019 and plans to invest more in consulting in the coming year.

MinterEllison's annual report also introduces new 2025 partnership gender targets of 40% women, 40% men, 20% any gender. However, its current gender numbers were not available. Of the 237 partners at the firm a year ago, 181 were men and 56 women.

The firm said its total staff headcount is 2,405 – an increase from 2,059 last year.
