The global head of corporate insurance at Clyde & Co has exited the firm after more than two decades in his post.

Andrew Holderness, who headed up the corporate insurance group, which is part of the wider insurance and reinsurance group, left the firm on October 31.

In an email sent to colleagues and seen by Law.com's Legal Week, Holderness stated that he had "decided on a new change in direction" and will begin providing strategic advice to those in the insurance and reinsurance markets.

According to a Companies House filing, earlier in October Holderness registered a company, Andrew Holderness Consultancy.

Holderness is the latest senior Clydes partner to exit the firm in the space of a few months. Earlier this year, the firm's head of Americas and former senior partner, James Burns, left the firm.

The current senior partner, Simon Konsta, and firm CEO, Peter Hasson, also announced their management resignations. They have been replaced by Peter Hirst and Matthew Kelsall respectively, with the latter's position set to be formalised in January 2020.

In September, two teams in London and San Francisco broke away from the firm to launch new boutiques.

In a statement, a spokesperson for Clyde & Co said: "We can confirm that after 20 years at Clyde & Co, Andrew Holderness has decided to retire from the firm.

"During his time here, Andrew has made a significant contribution, playing a key role in establishing the firm's corporate insurance practice, which now spans the globe with teams working for insurers at every stage of their development and assisting them with their growth.

"We are sure to retain strong links with Andrew, we thank him for his contribution and wish him well for the future."
