Singaporean firm Drew & Napier has hired Tju Liang Chua as an energy director from boutique firm Chris Chua & Associates, where he was a partner.

Chua specialises in mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and commercial transactions between Asia and the Americas in the oil and gas industry. He also advises funds, investors and startups on blockchain and cryptocurrencies. Since April of last year, Chua has been global general counsel of the Ethereum Foundation, a nonprofit organisation that promotes the Ethereum blockchain.

Chua leaves Chris Chua & Associates after almost three years with the firm. Previously, he was a partner at Sidley Austin in Singapore for more than three years and at Vinson & Elkins in Shanghai until the firm closed its Chinese office in 2013. Before that, Chua practised at Drew & Napier as an associate.
