Charles Russell Speechlys has secured further payouts for three TV personalities from News Group Newspapers (NGN) regarding claims of phone-hacking and voicemail interception.

The firm represented Coronation Street and Queer Eye actor Antony Cotton, fellow actor Mark Womack and TV Producer Natalka Znak, who has worked on popular TV shows including Love Island, Hell's Kitchen and I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here.

All had alleged that journalists at News Group Newspapers, which publishes The Sun and the now-defunct News Of The World, hacked into their mobile phone voicemails in order to obtain personal messages.

The CRS team was led by consultant Duncan Lamont, alongside commercial litigators Claire Greaney and Hannah Kent.

NGN was represented by Clifford Chance, with London private wealth and trusts disputes co-head Maxine Mossman and former global litigation and dispute resolution head Jeremy Sandelson acting.

In 2016, CC replaced Linklaters as legal adviser to News Group Newspapers on litigation relating to phone-hacking at the News of the World, the fourth time the media company has switched its lawyers on the case.

NGN has also previously instructed legacy Olswang and Farrer & Co.

In all cases, NGN made public apologies for the distress caused to each claimant and agreed to pay damages.

However, the settlements were made on condition that the media group made "no admission of liability in relation to [the claimant's] allegations of voicemail interception and/or other unlawful information gathering at The Sun", as part of the settlements.

In a statement, Lamont said: "We are pleased that we could assist our clients in resolving their disputes with NGN and that the publisher has made a public apology to each of these clients."
