Sydney-based litigation funder IMF Bentham Ltd. has expanded in Singapore, hiring Ruth Stackpool-Moore as an investment manager from Harbour Litigation Funding.

Stackpool-Moore will source, assess and manage funded cases throughout Asia, including arbitration, litigation and insolvency claims. In Singapore, she will work with Tom Glasgow, IMF Bentham's Asia chief investment officer, and associate investment manager Arvindran Manoosegaran, who joined last year from K&L Gates, where he was an associate.

Before joining IMF Bentham, Stackpool-Moore worked at London-based Harbour Litigation Funding – most recently as managing director of its Asia-Pacific exclusive broker, Asia Dispute Funding Pte. Ltd., based in Singapore. Before that, she helped open and then led Harbour Litigation Funding's Hong Kong office for two years.

Previously, Stackpool-Moore was managing counsel at the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC), where she oversaw case managers administer arbitrations. At the HKIAC, she was part of the centre's task force on third-party funding for arbitrations. Hong Kong began allowing third-party funding for arbitrations in February, after more than five years of consideration.

Earlier in her career, Stackpool-Moore was an associate at Debevoise & Plimpton in London, Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe in Paris and now-defunct Coudert Brothers in Paris and Sydney.

The appointment of Stackpool-Moore is the latest in IMF Bentham's global growth effort. Last month, the funder merged with Dutch litigation funder Omni Bridgeway Holding B.V., creating a global litigation funder with more than $1.5 billion in capital and 18 offices across 10 countries. IMF Bentham's Perth-based chief executive Andrew Saker told Law.com that the combination will provide a base for the funder to expand into continental Europe.
