Another general election has certainly promoted discussion among U.K. lawyers, but for lawyers at Lewis Silkin, taking a "more active part" in the election is now a very real possibility, as the U.K. firm is providing an additional day of leave to "exercise democratic rights and get involved" in the general election campaign.
In a firm-wide email sent shortly after the election announcement, Lewis Silkin's chairman Michael Burd announced that until December 12, employees may "request a day's leave (in addition to your normal holiday entitlement) to take some active part in the election campaign (e.g. canvassing, volunteering and so on)".
