KPMG's former global head of legal has joined Big Four rival Deloitte in Switzerland.

Jürg Birri has taken over as head of legal for Deloitte Switzerland, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Birri was at KPMG for just over eight years, with three of those years spent as global head of legal, where he led the auditing firm's record growth in 2018.

He will report to Luis Fernando Guerra, who took over from Amsterdam-based Piet Hein Meeter as Deloitte's global head of legal in June.

Meanwhile, Meeter becomes managing partner for Deloitte Legal, north and south Europe.

Former King & Wood Mallesons global managing partner Stuart Fuller took over from Birri's role as KPMG's global legal head in August this year, and earlier this year said the firm was planning a global expansion drive.

Elsewhere, Deloitte's U.K. legal arm launched its legal technology incubator this week, which will provide 14 companies with access to consulting, technology, legal and investment experts across the firm. In return, Deloitte Legal will become a user of the products and services offered by the startups.

Earlier this year, Deloitte's legal arm hired a director from Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner as its first chief technology officer, while in September it launched a graduate-level training contract, to start next September.
