Squire Patton Boggs has hired an energy partner from Clyde & Co as it continues to add to its London office.

Peter Stewart joins the firm's energy and natural resources practice after two years as a partner at Clyde & Co. He was previously a lawyer at the London base of U.S. firm Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle.

Stewart has particular expertise acting for oil companies, governments and state entities in upstream oil, gas and mining matters in emerging markets.

He is the latest partner addition for Squire in London. It recently hired Ashurst's former managing partner and finance partner James Collis, as well as long-time Herbert Smith Freehills banking partner Ian Yeo.

The firm has also expanded its international reach. It launched a new global commodities and shipping group with the hire of two Reed Smith partners in Singapore last month, and has since hired a HFW partner duo to the office.

Meanwhile, the firm also recently refreshed its London and European management. The firm has appointed Leeds-based corporate partner Jonathan Jones as its European managing partner, who will take over from current head Jane Haxby in January 2020.
