Chinese firm Han Kun Law Offices has recruited a prominent dispute resolution partner in Shanghai.

Denning Jin joins from Haiwen & Partners, where he was one of the main partners in charge of the firm's disputes practice. Jin specializes in intellectual property litigation and commercial litigation in China, as well as in international arbitration. He joined Haiwen in Shanghai in 2015 from King & Wood Mallesons, where he spent more than two decades practising in the firm's Shanghai office. Jin was a key disputes partner in Shanghai for King & Wood Mallesons at the time of his departure.

Traditionally known for its transactions practice, especially in the private equity and venture capital sectors, Han Kun has built a disputes practice in recent years. Last year, the firm hired partner Li Baofu, a former civil court judge, and partner Sun Qiunan, a civil and commercial disputes specialist and a former partner with Beijing-based B&D Law Firm.

Meanwhile, Beijing-based Han Kun also has been developing its Shanghai office in recent years. The firm hired asset securitization and insurance fund management partner Li Huhuan in Shanghai from Zhong Lun Law Firm in 2019, and in 2018, former Kirkland & Ellis corporate partner Paula Liu joined the office. Han Kun's Shanghai office significantly expanded in 2015 when a six-partner full-service team defected from AllBright Law Offices.

In 2018, Han Kun reported $124.1 million in revenue with 325 lawyers, making it the 11th largest law firm in China.

Haiwen Beijing partner and antitrust specialist Tao Jie now leads the firm's disputes practice.*
