Dechert has hired a partner focusing on Philippines practice in Singapore.

Maria Tan Pedersen relocates from Hong Kong where she had led a Philippines practice for Jones Day since 2012. She advises government, corporate clients and ultra-high net worth individuals and family offices on transactions, projects and international arbitration.

She joined Jones Day from K&L Gates where she was a partner. Before that, she spent seven years as a partner with the now-defunct firm Howrey.

Dean Collins, Dechert's Singapore managing partner, said Pedersen brings to the firm more than two decades of international and regional experience across complex M&A, financing and infrastructure matters as well as in high-stake dispute resolution matters. "She will make a strong addition to our growing client offering in Asia," he said.

Pedersen is the fourth partner in Dechert's Singapore office which Collins helped launch in 2014. Corporate partner Siew Kam Boon and international arbitration partner Mark Mangan are also based in the city-state. The office has 16 lawyers according to its website.

Jones Day has been contacted for comments.
