Dentons Boekel, the law firm's Dutch practice, is now operating as Dentons after dropping the name of the Dutch company it had partnered with three years ago.

Elliott Portnoy, Dentons' global chief executive officer, noted that Dentons Boekel has had a rich legacy of serving clients for more than 60 years in the Dutch market. "We are delighted to have benefited from the brand and goodwill and are excited about Dentons' next chapter in the Netherlands," he said in a statement.

Dentons merged its Dutch operation with local law firm Boekel in 2017.

Dentons Boekel's Amsterdam office has doubled its revenue since joining Dentons, according to the firm. The practice has grown from 16 to 29 partners, expanded its capabilities in banking and finance, corporate and M&A, energy, private equity, intellectual property and technology, tax and real estate.

Wendela Raas, Dentons' managing partner in Amsterdam, said the firm decided to transition the name to Dentons in part because the combination has played out so successfully. "We are fully committed to Dentons' vision to always be the law firm of the future and look forward to continuing to work with our colleagues around the world under the Dentons brand," she said.

Dentons has been steadily expanding its presence in continental Europe in recent years. It recently added lawyers to its Amsterdam office and has also increased head count in Düsseldorf, Germany, Rome and Milan.
