White & Case is reviewing its London office space options ahead of a lease break in 2025.

The firm has appointed property consultants JLL to advise, according to people with knowledge of the situation.

Its current space at its 5 Old Broad Street premises measures 140,000 sq ft, according to Estates Gazette, which first reported the news.

Its office has been based in the City of London since 2003, which some people expect to continue.

One London White & Case partner said: "I'd be surprised if we moved out of the City. A move to Canary Wharf would be controversial. It would be nice to have a view – as a relatively old-school building we're quite low down."

The firm is one of several recently to assess their office needs.

It joins Magic Circle firms Slaughter and May, Linklaters as well as Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom and Kirkland & Ellis in the process.

Last summer Law.com's Legal Week revealed Linklaters had appointed a "task-force" to review office options, ahead of its iconic One Silk Street office lease ending in 2026. The firm has its eyes on 20 Ropemaker Street, a 27-storey development less than 400 metres away from its current headquarters.

The same month it emerged Slaughters is considering a move away from its London office. The Magic Circle firm has been based at 1 Bunhill Row in Moorgate since 2002. The current lease expires in 2026, according to a person with knowledge of the situation.

Meanwhile, Skadden is also assessing its options ahead of its lease ending, according to a person close to the process, while others say Kirkland has yet to make a decision on its own review.

Last year Hogan Lovells moved out of one of its three London offices, when it overhauled its City premises to encourage more agile working and better use of technology.
