London-based fashion marketplace app Depop is seeking to appoint a head of legal for the first time.

The newly-created role, which is being advertised on Depop's LinkedIn account, will establish and develop the company's legal function, with responsibilities including contract reviews, setting the legal agenda and supporting the leadership team with any future financing events.

The advert says the position will report to the company's financial director and would suit a "practical and commercially minded individual who is prepared to be hands on and collaborative whilst building out our legal function and processes over the next year, to scale in line with our ambitious growth trajectory".

Dominic Rose, chief operating officer at Depop, said: "We're looking for a head of legal who is interested in helping Depop achieve our mission of empowering the next generation to transform fashion, and do so, with best-in-class experience and expertise."

Depop currently works with external legal entities across its offices in the U.S., U.K. and Australia. This includes a UK consultancy called Legal Edge, which handles its internal legal affairs.

The company has 17 million registered users across 147 countries and is the only European player to have recently entered the top 25 shopping apps by daily active users.
