Two Clifford Chance partners are set to join Gibson Dunn in Hong Kong.

Litigation partners Brian Gilchrist and Elaine Chen, who have been at the Magic Circle firm for over a decade, have left to join the U.S. firm.

Gilchrist became partner at Clifford Chance in 2008, and previously worked for legacy Johnson Stokes & Master prior to its 2008 merger with Mayer Brown. He also formerly worked for Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer.

Chen meanwhile is a member of Clifford Chance's tax risk team, and was also made partner at the firm in 2008.

According to Gibson Dunn, they will focus on disputes, including high-end litigation in the Hong Kong courts, arbitration and contentious financial regulatory matters.

In December, Clifford Chance lost another Hong Kong partner, Wendy Wysong, who left to establish a new office in the region for Steptoe & Johnson. She was previously the Magic Circle firm's Asia-Pacific anti-corruption and trade controls practice leader.

In 2018, Gibson Dunn lured two investment fund partners from Weil Gotshal & Manges to its Hong Kong office.
