Sidley Austin has hired Vincent Brophy as a partner in its global antitrust/competition practice.

Brophy joins from Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft, where he had been a partner since 2015. He previously practiced at Jones Day.

A recognized authority on EU antitrust and competition matters, Brophy has defended clients before European competition authorities—notably the European Commission and U.K. Competition and Markets Authority, as well as in antitrust litigation. He advises clients in the financial services, manufacturing and other industry sectors on mergers and antitrust investigations, cartel matters, regulations related to joint ventures and other EU regulatory matters.

"Vincent is a highly regarded and respected counsel with experience leading some of the most difficult cases before European competition authorities and courts," Kristina Nordlander, co-leader of Sidley's antitrust/competition practice, said in a statement. "He will be a fantastic addition to our team."

Brophy told Law.com International that he felt that the firm would be a good fit for him. He also was attracted by its goals.

"The firm is doing well and looking to expand," he said.

Brophy will be based in London but will split his time between the firm's London and Brussels offices.
