Australian firm Mills Oakley has hired real estate specialist Richard Cohen from Norton Rose Fulbright, where he will be a partner.

Cohen has 20 years' experience as a specialist property lawyer and advises Australian and international property owners and tenants across a range of projects, including commercial/industrial leasing, sales and acquisitions, and all other aspects of property law.

He started at Mills Oakley as a partner earlier this month. He was previously a special counsel at Norton Rose Fulbright.

Mills Oakley CEO John Nerurker said Cohen will help the firm respond to strong market demand.

"Mills Oakley already has one of the largest real estate teams in the market and we are pleased to be acting for a number of new clients for the first time this year," he said. "To attract a candidate of Richard's profile and caliber is particularly timely given the firm's growth in this area."

Cohen said he has known the Mills Oakley real estate team for many years and felt that the firm would be a great fit for the type and scale of clients he represents. His clients include a number of high-profile corporations, as well as state and federal government authorities.

Norton Rose Fulbright declined to comment.
