Uber has brought on board Fox Networks Group's deputy general counsel for Europe and Africa as a legal director.

The ride-hailing app company has appointed Mitzi Berberi as its new legal director for Western and Southern Europe, according to a person with knowledge of the situation.

Berberi had been in her role at Fox for just over four years. She had previously been head of legal and business affairs for the U.K., France and Africa at Fox International Channels since 2013.

Prior to that, she had been head of legal and business affairs for media production company Banijay Group from 2009.

According to an advertisement for the Uber role posted on LinkedIn, Berberi will provide and coordinate high-level strategic legal advice on product launches, commercial development, litigation and regulatory matters. She will report to Matthew Wilson, Uber's associate general counsel for the Europe, Middle East and Africa region.

Berberi is set to take on the role in early 2020. She replaces Riccardo Falconi, who had been in the role for over two years and joined real estate advertising company DoorInsider as chief operating officer earlier this month.

Uber operates in more than 600 cities around the world, including in over 40 countries in Europe, Middle East and Africa.

The company has recently called on Hogan Lovells as it appeals Transport for London's decision not to renew its London operating licence.
