Solomon Noh, Dechert

Dechert has hired London-based financial restructuring partner Solomon Noh from Shearman & Sterling.

Noh has been a partner at Shearman since 2011. He joined the firm in 2002 and acted on a number of significant mandates during his time there.

He was part of the Shearman team that advised on the major Co-op group restructuring in 2013. The firm advised the group of bondholders, which were led by hedge funds Aurelius, Silver Point and Monarch.

Noh is the latest hire for Dechert's London office after it boosted its bench strength with several high profile hires from Sidley Austin last year.

It took on real estate finance partner Aparna Sehgal, finance partner John McGrath and litigation partner Simon Fawell.

The trio had followed Dorothy Cory-Wright, who was Sidley Austin's global litigation co-head and London litigation head and joined Dechert in 2018 as London head of commercial disputes.

In October 2019, Dechert's U.K. LLP accounts showed revenues in the country had risen by more than 10% to surpass £100 million.

Shearman, meanwhile, has been subdued in its London hiring recently, despite stating it would be ramping up its activity in the market following the hire of heavyweight private equity partner Ward McKimm from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in 2018.

The firm did hire a Baker McKenzie partner duo later that year, but has been reserved in its London activity since then.
