Norton Rose Fulbright has hired a projects and construction partner from a domestic firm in response to growing demand as Australia's massive infrastructure build continues.

Ren Niemann will join as a major projects, construction and government partner in Brisbane in April from McCullough Robertson in Brisbane, where he was also a partner.

Niemann advises government and corporate clients on construction, infrastructure and procurement projects across sectors, including defense, transport, health, education, waste, water, telecommunications and energy, Norton Rose said in a statement.

"We have been investing in support for our government, major infrastructure and construction clients for some time now in response to growing demands from those clients for advice and an increase in major projects," said Wayne Spanner, Norton Rose managing partner in Australia.

"Ren will be an important addition to our Queensland government, projects and construction and engineering teams, and his strong track record advising large government and corporate clients and diverse expertise and skills will bolster our Brisbane office in particular."

Niemann said there has been a groundswell of activity in recent years across defense, transport, health, education, renewables, waste and water, and social infrastructure, and it is expected to continue.

Norton Rose has been adding to its construction and government teams in recent years.

Australia is in the midst of an unprecedented infrastructure boom as governments on the east coast undertake major transport projects, along with social infrastructure such as hospitals.

McCullough Robertson has been approached for comment.
