Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom has hired a restructuring partner from Milbank to its London office.

The firm is bringing partner Peter Newman on board to bolster its London restructuring offering.

Newman has been at Milbank for his entire legal career, having joined the firm in 2004. His practice focuses on cross-border restructurings, distressed acquisitions or financings, and other associated disputes.

Scott Simpson, co-head of Skadden's global transactions practice, said in a statement: "We continue to invest in the growth of our European platform through strategic hires. Peter's experience in financial restructuring, with a particular focus on advising funds on their distressed investments, will deepen our bench in this important area and enhance the service we provide to our clients."

The hire is the latest for Skadden in London, which picked up Allen & Overy M&A partners George Knighton and Simon Toms in September. Toms, however, is being held to a nine-month gardening notice period at A&O, so will join the firm in the summer.
