Baker McKenzie is set to hire Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe's former London head, according to three people with knowledge of the matter.

Kolvin Stone is due to join Bakers in London after a decade at Orrick, where he was a partner in the firm's technology companies group, as well as global co-chair of its cybersecurity and data privacy group for four years and later European chair of that group, according to his LinkedIn profile and Orrick's website.

He was Orrick's London office leader during 2018, before joining its global board in 2019, according to his LinkedIn profile. During his time at the firm, he led a team advising production and distribution company StudioCanal on its acquisition of the intellectual property rights of children's book Paddington Bear.

Before Orrick, Stone spent a total of 11 years at Fox Williams, including one year as a partner in its technology, intellectual property and data protection practice.

The firm has made a concerted hiring push in the past year in a bid to boost its London office, and Stone's hire represents the office's first of the year.

Last year, the firm added several White & Case partners including corporate finance partner duo Rob Mathews and David Becker, as well as tax partner Prabhu Narasimhan.

Baker McKenzie declined to comment. Stone was contacted via email, phone, and LinkedIn, but did not respond.

A spokeperson at Orrick said in a statement: "We thank Kolvin for his contribution to our firm."
