Taylor Wessing has cut 28 business function roles in its London office following the conclusion of a consultation process.

The firm initiated the consultation to assess those roles affected by the firm's transition from London to Liverpool, where much of the firm's business service functions now take place.

According to the firm, it was originally set to make 34 roles redundant, but that this number has been reduced as some have been redeployed in Liverpool, while others have been given new roles in London.

Taylor Wessing's Liverpool office launched in November 2018 and currently has a team of 17 lawyers and paralegals, and over 60 business service professionals. The firm has said that it is eyeing a headcount of over 100 by the end of the financial year.

The redundancy announcement comes as Taylor Wessing moves into new Liverpool offices at Edward Pavilion on the Royal Albert Docks, uprooting from its original flexible working space in Flax Merchants Court.

In a statement released, the firm also said that it "would like to thank all those affected for their outstanding professionalism and commitment during the consultation process".

Earlier this year, DAC Beachcroft confirmed it was holding a redundancy consultation across its London and Leeds real estate teams, where it looked to cut ten lawyer roles.

In October, insurance specialist BLM announced it had started a redundancy consultation across three of its U.K. offices, following the collapse of longstanding client Thomas Cook.
