Linklaters has signed a lease agreement for its new London headquarters, the firm has announced.

The Magic Circle firm will move into 20 Ropemaker Street in Moorgate, a new-build in the heart of the City, in 2026. It is located close to the firm's current One Silk Street headquarters.

The new office will occupy a total of 14 floors, or more than 300,000 sq ft, of the building from the ground up with the option of 'right-sizing' the space in the future, the firms said.

Gideon Moore, managing partner of the firm, said in a statement: "Throughout the selection process, what has been clear to us is the value that our people place on the environment in which they work and the extraordinary benefits that 20 Ropemaker, built by a developer committed to achieving the highest standards and carefully designed to meet our requirements, will bring to the firm and to our clients."

The building is the tallest stone building construction in London since St Paul's Cathedral, according to the firm's statement.

The 30-year lease for Linklaters' iconic One Silk Street offices, where the firm has been based since 1996, ends in 2026.

This signing brings to an end Linklaters' search for a new office space. Law.com International's U.K. arm Legal Week previously reported that the firm had appointed a task force dedicated to finding a new office space.

Slaughter and May is considering options to move out of its 1 Bunhill Row office, which it has occupied since 2002. The lease expires in 2026.

Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, meanwhile, signed a 20-year lease in 2017 to move to 100 Bishopsgate by the end of this year.
