Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe expanded its commercial litigation lineup in Houston by hiring Christina Maccio, a former DLA Piper partner who represents energy clients from Latin America and Europe.

Maccio, who started work at Orrick on Thursday, said the firm provides a network of offices to support her practice and her mix of clients, and has an important focus on energy and infrastructure, finance and technology.

Fluent in Spanish, Maccio said she often represents clients from Latin America in U.S. courts and international arbitration proceedings. Some years, those matters comprise up to 70% of her work, she said.

Maccio, who worked at DLA Piper since 2008, declined to identify her clients but said they include entities based in Mexico, Peru, Argentina, and Colombia.

In 2015, she won a judgment of nearly $2 million in damages, and an additional $1.47 million in attorney fees, in a complex breach-of-contract suit in state district court in Houston for clients that included Laguna Tubular Products Corp.

The move to Orrick reunites Maccio with partner Claudia Frost, who joined Orrick in Houston four years ago from DLA Piper.

Dahl Thompson, the leader of Orrick's Houston office, said Maccio brings strong oil and gas litigation experience to the 4-year-old location.

Jack Langlois, managing partner of DLA Piper's Houston office, did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Maccio's departure.
