Norton Rose Fulbright has appointed London partner Peter Scott as the firm's next managing partner for Europe, Middle East and Asia.

Scott currently leads Norton Rose Fulbright's disputes and litigation practice in the region and also heads up the firm's global antitrust and competition law practice. He handles clearance decisions and investigations by the European Commission and the U.K. Competition and Markets Authority and proceedings before the High Court in England and the EU's General Court and Court of Justice. He starts his new role on April 1.

He joined the firm in 1999 and became a partner in 2007.

Peter Scott will take over from incumbent Martin Scott, who has held the role since 2015. During his tenure, the firm launched new offices in Monaco and Luxembourg, in 2016 and 2017, respectively. The region has contracted recently however – in January, the firm closed its office in Bahrain; in 2018, the firm closed offices in Abu Dhabi and Almaty, Kazakhstan. The firm continues to operate two Middle East bases in Dubai and Riyadh.

In 2018, Norton Rose Fulbright elected London-based Islamic finance partner Farmida Bi to be chair of Europe, Middle East and Asia; Bi is the first woman to hold that position.

Norton Rose Fulbright is structured as a Swiss verein globally. The firm's U.K. registered Limited Liability Partnership, which includes its offices in the U.K., Europe, Middle East, Asia and Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, reported $620 million (£480.7 million) in revenue, in the year ended April 30, 2019; the division's profits reached $162 million (£124.7 million), down 5% from a year earlier.
