Andersen Global has entered into a collaboration agreement with a law firm in the Republic of Guinea, giving it a presence in its 27th African nation.

The agreement with Nimba Conseil brings on board more than 10 tax and legal professionals, with the firm advising on administrative and financial outsourcing matters, legal and tax due diligence and tax control and assessment.

Speaking to Law.com International, Andersen chairman Mark Vorsatz said that the median age in Africa is a key factor in the choice to expand there, as there are 30 countries in the world where the median age is under 20, with 29 of them in Africa.

Simply put, he says: "Africa is the future".

He added there was a "very good chance" that the professional services giant will shortly surpass PwC in the number of locations in Africa, as he believes six more deals in the region before the end of May is likely.

PwC was unable to provide a comment in time for publication.

Vorsatz said building out West Africa is a key priority for the business. "We're already in eight of the 17 French speaking countries", he added, "we hope to be in all 17 by the end of the year". Africa has 54 countries in it.

Managing partners for Nimba Conseil Guy Piam and Aminata Bah, said in a statement: "Collaborating with Andersen Global will allow us to continue to prioritise our clients' needs and ambitions by offering them the resources of a global firm so they are able to scale regardless of borders."

Dentons has also been expanding in Africa, describing itself as a "pan-African law firm". In fact, Vorsatz believes that Andersen and Dentons share a similar growth strategy, noting that the law firm is "doing a terrific job at geography".

Vorsatz also believes that Andersen could "very well surpass Dentons in number and locations" this year.

Elsewhere, Andersen has expanded in the Middle East, entering Ramallah in the West Bank and Israel last month.
