Linklaters has appointed a new global head of alternative legal services after the previous post-holder left the firm weeks into the role to join Magic Circle rival Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer.

Jas Mundae became the second incumbent of the position in December, a spokesperson confirmed.

Mundae has worked at Linklaters for nearly two decades, holding a number of management positions most recently as head of legal tech and alternative resourcing since 2018.

As head of alternative legal services, she will be responsible for leading the firm's strategy on alternative resourcing of support lawyers and paralegals as well as the firm's legal technology, project management and resource management capabilities.

She will also take the lead on Linklaters' flexi-lawyering platform, Re-link, which launched last in April last year. Mundae is listed as a director of a newly-registered company, Linklaters Re:Link Ltd, which was filed by the firm's business services arm in December.

Mundae's appointment to the role follows the departure of Mark Higgs, whom Legal Week, the U.K. arm of Law.com International, revealed had left the firm in November last year to join Freshfields as its London chief operating officer.

At the time of his departure, Higgs had only been at the Magic Circle firm since January 2019 when he joined as COO of Re:Link, and had only taken on the role of global head of alternative legal services a few weeks previously.
