Global law firm Hogan Lovells has hired a partner from Baker McKenzie to join its finance practice in Sydney later this month.

Bryan Paisley is an established corporate finance lawyer who regularly acts for banks, investors and borrowers in connection with corporate bank/finance facilities, leveraged and acquisition finance transactions, property financings, secondary debt transactions and distressed refinancings, Hogan Lovells said.

"Bryan's arrival represents the latest step in our plan for the building out of the Australian practice. His experience complements our existing expertise and provides us with an opportunity to further service the growing finance and debt needs of our corporate transactions," global head of the Hogan Lovells finance practice Matthew Cottis said in a statement.

Paisley, who worked at Lovells (as it then was) in the London office from 1997 to 2005 and spent 13 years as a partner at Baker McKenzie, said: "I am very much looking forward to working with a team I know well, both locally and globally. I remain impressed with their excellent reputation, industry knowledge and dedication to client service and am excited to further expand the work they do in this sector, both in Australia and around the world," he said.

Baker McKenzie's national managing partner, Anthony Foley, said the firm thanks Paisley for his contributions over the past 15 years and offers him "our best wishes for the future as he embarks on his next challenge."
