Greenberg Traurig has expanded its global disputes group in London with the hire of a partner duo from Mishcon de Reya.

Mishcon head of finance and banking disputes Masoud Zabeti, alongside finance and banking disputes partner Mohammed Khamisa QC are joining Greenberg's financial services litigation practice in London.

Zabeti has been a partner at Mishcon since 2007, according to his LinkedIn profile, and was appointed head of banking in 2011. He represents a range of clients in multijurisdictional matters concentrated in the Middle East.

Most recently, Zabeti represented Duet Group in a dispute involving Bain Capital's former managing director.

Meanwhile, Khamisa first joined Mishcon in 2015 after spending almost five years as joint head of Old Bailey Chambers, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Khamisa represents clients in commercial litigation often involving fraud in the financial sector.

The hires are rare lateral partner additions for Greenberg in London over the past year. The firm's most recent significant London hire came in summer 2019, when it added Stephenson Harwood partner Graeme McLellan.

The firm has been making a push in Europe recently, with the expansion of its Amsterdam office in the past year. The firm also established an office in Milan last year through a merger with Santa Maria Studio Legale, a firm which it had a strategic alliance with since 2005.

Kas Nouroozi, partner and head of dispute resolution practice at Mishcon de Reya, said in statement: "While the timing of their departure is yet to be agreed we thank both Masoud and Mohammed for their contribution over a number of years to the firm. We wish them well and have no doubt that we will remain good friends."
