The chief operating officer and co-founder of Linklaters' AI and tech platform, Nakhoda, has left the firm.
Partha Mudgil, who first joined the Magic Circle firm eight years ago, departed from the role last month. He originally worked as an associate and later manager within the firm's 'tactical opportunities' practice, according to his LinkedIn profile. A spokesperson for the firm confirmed his exit.
Mudgil founded the AI tech platform with Linklaters finance partner, Edward Chan, in 2017.
Nakhoda uses AI technology to provide the firm's clients with assistance in processing legal data, in particular contracts. According to the firm's website, Nakhoda is used by over 20 Fortune Global 500 companies and eight of the ten largest banks by assets.
Mudgil's role at the firm has been taken on by global innovation chief, Shilpa Bhandarkar, who joined the firm in 2018.
A Linklaters spokesperson said: "We are grateful for the leadership he's given to Nakhoda as a founding member of the team."
On the appointment of Bhandarkar, the Linklaters spokesperson added: "As well as having trained and practised as a lawyer, Shilpa has also been a founder of a start-up and has worked at a leading legal tech start-up.
"She brings a fantastic skillset to helping move Nakhoda into its next phase of growth. Our flagship technology platform will continue building bespoke, transformative legal tech products for our clients as part of Linklaters' wider innovation offering."
