The co-founder of Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan's London office is leaving the firm after more than a decade to rejoin the bar.
Sue Prevezer QC is to join Brick Court Chambers on April 1, nearly 12 years after co-founding Quinn's London office in 2008. Until January this year, she led the London office alongside co-managing partner Ted Greeno and senior partner Richard East.
Prevezer is regarded as one of the industry's top arbitrators and litigators, having chaired Quinn's international trial practice and having sat as a deputy High Court judge in the Chancery Division. Before joining Quinn, she was a barrister at Essex Court Chambers, according to her LinkedIn profile.
Among other high profile cases, Prevezer acted as lead counsel for HSH Nordbank in its $275 million victory against UBS.
Quinn London this month broke through the £100 million turnover barrier, alongside an 11% increase in profits.
In an email to her colleagues, later forwarded to Legal Week, the U.K. arm of Law.com International, Prevezer said: "I have had an extraordinary 11+ years in London, helping build and manage the London office, with the assistance of so many fantastic people.
"It's been a huge privilege. From its beginnings in a small office in Covent Garden in 2008, with Richard [East], Matt [Bunting] and two other associates… the office has grown into a litigation powerhouse, full of brilliant, fearless lawyers – partners, associates and assistants alike – supported by all those who make the office run on a daily basis, and without whom, it would not function."
Quinn's East said in a separate statement: "Sue and I have worked together, co-managing the firm for over 11 years and I am desperately sad that she is leaving Quinn now. I will personally miss her friendship, great counsel and support. But we of course all wish her well and every success in her new endeavours."
In January, the firm announced that partner Alex Gerbi was to take over the co-managing partner role alongside incumbent Greeno.
